If you’re loaded, in the habit of getting your luxury rides customised, and love fishing, look no further. Place a call to Crewe, and order the Bentayga, which Bentley claims to be the ultimate angling accessory.
Hand-crafted by Bentley’s bespoke coachbuilding division, the Bentayga Fly Fishing by Mulliner houses all the equipment required for a day by the river. The special edition luxury SUV comes equipped with four fishing rods in special tubes trimmed in saddle leather with linen cross-stitching stowed away neatly beneath the parcel shelf. The kit also includes a pair of landing nets in matching leather bags and placed in a bespoke, carpet-trimmed hard pocket built into the side of the boot.
Forming the core of the Bentayga Fly Fishing by Mulliner’s fishing gear are three individual, saddle-leather-trimmed units: a master tackle station, a refreshment case, and waterproof wader-stowage trunk. The former two units are placed on a sliding tray that allows for easy access. Inside the master tackle unit is a special Burr Walnut veneered drawer which contains a fly-tying vice and tools, along with an assortment of cotton, hooks, feathers and aluminium reel cases. The refreshment case contains three metal flasks and a set of Mulliner fine-china tableware, as well as a separate food storage compartment to make sure your gourmet takeaway stays warm and is served in style. The third unit is a hand-crafted waterproofed wood trunk, which can be used to store waders and boots. The boot floor itself is waterproofed and the rear sills get protective covers to make sure loading and unloading the fishing kit doesn’t damage your ride. Meanwhile, an electronic dehumidifier unit ensures the area ria always kept fresh and dry.
The special Bentayga also gets welcome lights that project the Bentley and Mulliner logos on to the ground when the doors are opened, and as you’d expect from a bespoke division, you will be able to personalise the graphic.
“The Bentayga Fly Fishing car showcases the breadth and level of detail a customer can expect from Mulliner,” says Geoff Dowding, director of Mulliner. “Fly fishing is a sport that requires a variety of equipment and clothing, so it was essential to package the rods, reels, waders, boots and fly-tying station into the car in a luxurious, accessible and elegant way – and the end result is truly extraordinary,” he adds.
