There was a time not long ago, when we wouldn’t give news concerning sub-compact saloons a second look. But times are changing, and even the Middle East market has started to see these little three-box machines gaining popularity. That’s why this set of spy photos caught our attention.
The small saloon we see in these pics is seemingly sporting a Buick grille, but our spy says this is an Opel Corsa wearing a fake grille. Either way, this compact saloon from General Motors is expected to ride on the same G2SC Gamma Platform that will underpin the next-generation Chevrolet Sonic and the Bolt electric vehicle. While the production version will be sold as an Opel- or Vauxhall-badged Corsa in Europe, it could also go on sale in Asian markets as a Chevrolet Sail. A fancier version wearing a Buick badge will also likely be aimed at the American market.
Powertrain options could include a bunch of three- and four-cylinder engines, all likely to be turbocharged.
