Ever since Toyota and BMW signed a deal to jointly develop a sportscar platform, there has been a lot of hype around the project. This was further fuelled by the striking FT-1 concept shown at the Detroit show in 2014. We’ve been consistently bringing you spy photos of what’s considered to be a spiritual successor to the iconic Supra. In fact recent reports suggest that Toyota has already registered the Supra name as a trademark in the European markets.
While there isn’t much different on the exterior compared to previous spy shots, our spy has managed to get a clear shot of the cabin. Although a major portion of the dashboard is covered, you can clearly see a BMW automatic transmission shifter with a BMW iDrive knob beside it on the centre console. The steering wheel and the infotainment screen also look typically BMW, but interestingly, it’s a Toyota badge on the wheel, obvious despite efforts to mask it with duct tape.
Both the Toyota and BMW versions are expected to be built at Magna Steyr’s factory in Graz, Austria, with production set to begin next year.
