Volkswagen, like most other major carmakers, is betting big on SUVs. In the last two years, the German automaker announced as many SUVs. The large Teramont is already here in the Middle East, while the T-Roc is on sale elsewhere. However, Wolsburg’s bread-and-butter model is still the good-old Touareg, which is set to get a generational update sometime next year.
While we have previously seen prototypes of the Touareg testing, this week our spy snapper has spotted a completely undisguised production-ready version of the next-gen SUV. Photographed while out for an official shoot, the new Touareg has clearly taken styling cues from other new models including the Teramont and the Arteon. These changes have lent the SUV a sharper, more modern appearance than the current model.
Based on Volkswagen’s MLB platform, which also underpins the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga and the recently launched Lamborghini Urus, it’s also expected to be dynamically sharper than its predecessor. There is no information yet on the powertrain options, but turbocharged, four-pots and a hybrid variant are sure to be part of the line-up.
