We have gotten our hands on the latest set of spy shots of the R8 supercar — but if you were expecting wholesale changes, you might be a tad disappointed.

The updated version was being tested by Audi Sport and unlike we originally thought, it won’t be a more hardcore GT variant, rather, it’ll just be a mid-cycle refresh.

The updates include new front and rear fascias; the grille looks bigger and there’s a bit of a gap between the headlights and intakes along with a new lip spoiler. Around the back, there’s a large new vent and there could be some active elements in the diffuser. It also has large oval exhaust tips (a signature Audi Sport design trait) which replace the current square-shaped units.

The 5.2-litre V10 might get a boost in power; in the V10 Plus it currently has 540 horses but remember it’s the same motor that the Lamborghini Huracán Performante has and it makes 640 horses.

The updated R8 should make its debut early next year and hit showrooms as a 2020 model.
