The first spy shots of a prototype third gen i10 have landed in our inbox with Hyundai ensuring the little hatch, which debuted back in 2007 (the second gen followed in 2013) was covered from front to back to keep any design details hidden from prying eyes — and maybe to keep it warm while it was being driven in the snow in Sweden we presume!

Even with all of that camo, we can see that the fog lights of the tiny five-door — which is set to launch in 2020 — are sitting higher and closer to the headlights and it appears to have new air intakes in the front bumper. The taillights look new too but that’s really all we can tell — although rumour has it that its wheelbase will be stretched compared to the current model which measures 2,385mm.

It is also unknown if there will be any changes to the drivetrain. The current i10 is available with three- and four-cylinder naturally aspirated engines (the smaller 1.0-litre has 66 horses while the bigger 1.2-litre has 86) but we won’t be surprised if the newbie gets the Picanto’s turbocharged three-pot 1.0-litre motor with 100 horses.
