Week 2
The 2020 model being an update, the changes are mostly cosmetic. The revisions made to the exterior, although minimal, contribute to making the Land Cruiser look more refined and ready more polished urban duties than were traditionally performed by the nameplate. The Grand Touring variant that we have exudes sophistication and has impressive urban presence. In fact, at 5,170mm long, 1,980mm wide, and 1,930mm tall, the Land Cruiser is one of the most imposing vehicles on the road today. It remains a statement that you can’t make with many other cars that are way more expensive.
Overall, the 2020 model update has been successful in keeping the familiar, well-loved silhouette fresh and up to date.
Week 3
Despite its time-tested off-road track, a good percentage of Land Cruisers sold here spend their lives only on the road, enjoying the respect they get in the fast lane. This makes the Grand Touring variant a sensible choice for many. If you do not need the 362 horsepower the 5.7 litre engine in the top spec VXR offers, this city-oriented trim based on the mid-level GXR grade makes sense. A 4.0-litre V6 and a 4.6-litre V8 are available in this trim. With 304 horsepower and 434Nm of torque, the 4.6-litre V8 produces more than enough power for any imaginable use in an urban setting. The progress is smooth and stately, and the cabin is extremely quiet and insulated with the only occasional intrusion being the distant grunt from the V8.
Week 4
The Grand Touring gets all the goodies that are standard in a GXR, such as leather and wood trimmed steering wheel, wood grain interior package, powered seats finished in plush leather, wireless charger, illuminated front and rear door sill scuff plates, cruise control, centre console cooler box, powered tailgate, integrated roof rails and sunroof.
Safety has also been given priority with features such as ABS, EBD, front and rear parking sensors, Hill Start Assist Control, Crawl Control as well as dual front and side curtain airbags coming as standard.
Priced at Dh239,900 for the V6 and Dh286,500 for the V8, the Land Cruiser GXR Grand Touring offers exceptional value.
