BMW and Mercedes-Benz had better watch out because Porsche has finally joined the burgeoning coupe SUV party. Now, the world may not have exactly needed such a thing (SUVs are everywhere…) but Porsche sure did and judging by this official video from the Stuttgart carmaker its new Cayenne Coupe looks like it’ll put the frighteners on the X6 and the GLE…

The all-new 2020 model does what its rivals have been doing for a while now - and that is trading a bit of practicality for more attractive aesthetics – but we’ll accept because it looks pretty mean. It features a far sleeker roofline (the slope and shape of the back pillar are intended to evoke the 911 roofline) has a fixed panoramic dark-glass panel (a carbon fibre roof is optional) and not one but two rear spoilers. It has less cargo space though; the base model has 622 litres behind the rear seats and 1,537 with the second row folded (the Cayenne SUV has 770 and 1,707 litres respectively) and the Cayenne Coupe Turbo has even less room at 600 and 21.2 and 1,509.

The base model packs a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 making 335 horses (along with Porsche's adaptive suspension, Sport Chrono Package with launch control and 20in wheels) while the top-of-the-line Cayenne Turbo Coupe gets a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that produces 541 horses. Both are mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic torque converter automatic sending power to all four wheels.

We’ll have more news on Porsches latest model but for now, all that’s left to do is to crank up the volume and watch the newbie in action!
