We have been on top of all the teaser images Mercedes has been er, teasing us with of the stunning Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept this week. First, it was the profile of the gorgeous luxury coupe and we loved the way the rear plummeted down to the ground and the long bonnet and then we were shown a dark image of the front fascia, which also had us nodding in approval. For its next act, Merc hasn’t given us another dimly lit photo – instead, we have a video of the car and the big news is that is has gullwing doors!

We’re really excited about that and it’d be nice to see Merc have a model with them; when the SLS AMG was ditched it meant the carmaker didn’t have a car with the upwards opening doors anymore. But, it seems the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 will change that and the gullwings will make a comeback. The new video also shows more of the sloping roofline and a pair of very slender taillights along with more of the bodywork. We are hoping this flamboyant coupe is going to go into production, it just has to – Bentley and Rolls-Royce need a proper new rival, and this could be it. Measuring almost six metres in length, it sure has size – and presence – on its side to make it more than a match.

Even though we’ve seen a lot of this car now, all will be revealed tomorrow at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and we can’t wait!
